[STYLE] “INNOVATION IS DEVIANCE” DR. MARTEN’S 14XX IS NOW LIVE

THE 14XX COLLECTION, FIRST REVEALED IN NYC IN OCTOBER, WILL BE AVAILABLE IN LIMITED NUMBERS TO PURCHASE GLOBALLY FROM 14TH DECEMBER.

DM’S NEW CATEGORY DISTORTS 3 CLASSIC SILHOUETTES. THE 14XX EXPERIMENT BEGINS.

A history of progressive workwear forms the foundation of DM’s ongoing experiment to
reconceptualise their design language. Never resting. Always evolving.
The genesis of Dr. Martens was born of a combination of innovation and a restless desire to put
quality and durability at the forefront of boot manufacturing. 14XX amplifies this determination to
create progressive, experimental designs that push the boundaries of the brand’s DNA — breaking
convention and embracing
the alternative.
Drawing from a deep archive of functional workwear, the design team have elevated, disrupted,
and evolved classic silhouettes. The driving force behind this new platform combines an openness
to failure and a license to shatter preconceptions and expectations around DM’s footwear. 14XX
embraces and embodies rebellious self-expression, creating a new design language for wearers to
adopt, subvert, and play.

All 3 subversions available from 14th December on the Dr. Martens online, select stores and retailers.

Launching with the suitably named Beta Pack. The vanguard for SS24 and beyond. Consisting of
reworkings of the 1460 boot, the 1461 shoe and the 2976 Chelsea boot, each with a different outsole
that will feature in 14XX’s SS24 and AW24 collections. The uppers reference DM’s industrial designs
with exaggerated panel detailing viewed through a future-facing lens.
The 1460 Beta Zebzag, sit atop a brand-new outsole designed to be a more ergonomically
comfortable fit, with increased room for toes and a broader base. The 2976 Beta DMXL outsole
utilises a dual-material construction. Beginning with an EVA compound for its lightweight comfort
and fitted with a PVC pod for extra durability. Representing the traditional DMS sole but developed
to be inflated and exaggerated. An experiment that plays with proportions and expectations. The
construction also breaks tradition by not using a welted seal but maintaining the yellow stitching that
DM’s are famous for. The 1461 Beta Clubwedge outsole is much closer to Dr. Martens traditional
construction but with extra high cleats for a more rugged edge drawing from a long history of
functional workwear.
