For FW23, Cat Footwear continues its legacy of building a world for today and tomorrow with its first partnership with the iconic Harris Tweed. For more than a century, Harris Tweed has been recognized as one of the world’s most durable and sustainable fabrics, making it the perfect material to elevate Cat Footwear’s most recognized rugged lifestyle boot, the Colorado 2.0.
The collaboration and“Built from The Land”story is a true celebration and ode to the craft,hard work,and resilience of the people of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, from whom they source and weave the 100% wool fabric on the Isle of Harris. This fabric is globally renowned and sought after, with the land and people woven into its very fabric. It reflects the colors of the landscapes, the beauty of our vistas, and the values of our people.
To the north of the remote string of islands lies the Isle of Lewis,a rugged and bleakly beautiful land of heather and moor, loch and stream. It is home to the main harbor town of Stornoway and the three Harris Tweed mills. The Isle of Harris, more mountainous than its northern brother, boasts some of the world’s finest beaches of golden fine shell sand, shallow azure blue seas, and a myriad of hidden crofts and villages.
South of this main body,a string of smaller islands tails off to the south,including the machair meadows and loch-laden isles of the Uists and beautiful Barra at the furthest tip. For generations, these islands have produced a special cloth: Harris Tweed.
The partnership sees Cat Footwear’s iconic Colorado reimagined in three special Harris Tweed color stories, each inspired by the Outer Hebrides landscape and environments around the Isle of Harris. Each color story has been draped over the Colorado’s distinctive ankle cuff and quarter panel, ensuring extreme comfort and durability with expected Cat Footwear quality features, such as a durable rubber outsole, cushioned foam footbed, soft, breathable nylon mesh lining, all finished in an oiled nubuck for a soft but weather-resistant finish.
The Colorado 2.0 Harris Tweed will be available from October 2023 via catfootwear.com and selected retailers in three colorways: Black, Chocolate Brown, and the unmistakable Amber Gold.
