What five words define your sound?
The five words that define my sound are fresh, exquisite, energetic, creative, and catchy.
Tell me something unique about your creative process.
Something unique about my creative process is that I walk around and view nature while writing rather than sitting in the studio and writing it. I feel it gives me more room to expand into my head space.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
I would like people to listen to ‘2 Sides Of The Story’. It tells you a lot about me and what I had to overcome to come into the space I am in now.
What inspired you to make that song?
Just life in general, being in dark places and spaces. I really had to write to bring out light in the situation that I was in, you know?
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?
The most vulnerable I been was making ‘2 Sides of the Story’. I told you the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth in each and every bar of the song.
What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?
The best experience I had on stage was probably at Coachella when I popped out with BigX. The crowd was electric that day and we just connected. The worst experience was back at the beginning of the journey, performing in front of people that just wanted to party so they weren’t even paying us attention. They really didn’t want us up on stage.
What is your favourite song to perform?
My favourite song to perform is ‘Ugh”, because I finally got a dance to it and the song is so energetic that it just makes people turn up, even if they don’t know the song word for word.
Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?
LIL WAYNE, Lil Wayne, and Lil Wayne. That’s my favourite artist, not really any individual album or song, but just anything from him In general. He inspired me to start rapping.
What’s the meaning behind your name?
Ro is my childhood nickname, and the sama part comes from me being bad, you know, like Osama.
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?
I’d prolly be on somebody’s football field, or in the rodeo riding bulls for eight seconds at a time. Maybe even roping cows and horses.
What’s success to you?
Success to me is being able to fulfil every goal you’ve set out for yourself, and completing them with full confidence.
What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?
Being homeless and living In my car. I just didn’t ever want to feel that way or be in that situation ever again.
