MAGIXX INTERVIEW: VIPER PRESENTS [FEATURE]

MAGIXX INTERVIEW

MAGIXX INTERVIEW: Rising Afro-R&B star, Magixx boasts over 1.2 million monthly Spotify listeners and over 400 million career streams so far. Having been lauded for his sterling vocals and fluid artistry, he’s tipped as one of the most promising acts in Afrobeats’ new school. Get familiar…

What five words define your sound?

Soul, life, family, determination, love.

Tell me something unique about your creative process.

I can make melodies in seconds, but I take my time to write my lyrics. Sometimes I leave the song and come back to it after a month, when I know I now have the right words to say.

Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?

‘Voices’.

What inspired you to make that song?

A childhood friend who made a threat to my life and some family members who were against my career choices.

What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?

When I was writing ‘Consistency’, the first track on my album, I let myself be really reflective and judgmental of my own self, it led me to being truthful with myself. It was quite a vulnerable process.

What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?

My best experience was in Zambia, December 2024. I didn’t know my music was that popular in the country, we had a sold-out show with a massive turnout and people asking for more tickets. In terms of the worst experience, I’ve not really had any bad ones. I turn any near bad experience on stage around before people even notice

What is your favourite song to perform?

Hmmm this is a hard choice but off the album in this moment, I’ll say ‘Okay’.

Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?

It wasn’t really an artist or album, I was inspired a lot by my dad’s passion for music. He had a wide range of artists he listened to and having that influence opened my eyes to music as an art. I’ll also give credit to my school friends as I attended a school where people were musically inclined, we had a music room and all that; I’ll also say church.

What’s the meaning behind your name?

Magixx means supernatural, being able to do what’s not expected.

If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?

I honestly don’t know, it’s music or nothing.

What’s success to you? What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?

My music reaching more places than I could ever imagine, gracing bigger stages, family and friends being good, peace of mind, children. I won’t say I changed direction, I just became better with my art.

Where can people keep in touch with you?

Iam_magixx for Instragram and Twitter,  King.Magixx for Tik Tok.
