New Balance, Asics, and Hoka are among the leading brands for the easy-to-wear footwear, seeing loafer inspired models like the New Balance 1906. Footwear brands such as Asics, Crocs, and Nike created triple-digit price premiums on StockX through luxury collaborations. Ugly shoes are in with the Crocs x Shrek collaboration hitting over 11,000 trades to date.
The laceless and slip-on shoe trend has rapidly gained popularity, offering both comfort and style to consumers. Leading brands like New Balance, Asics, and Hoka have tapped into the demand for easy-to-wear footwear, with loafer inspired models like the New Balance 1906, which currently trades seven active colourways on the StockX platform. Vans, a cult favourite, has also seen a resurgence, with search increases up to 355% on StockX. Laceless shoes continue their domination, with Ugg holding its place as the top-selling brand on StockX for two years running. The Ugg Tasman Chestnut, released in 2021, has seen over 25,000 trades and remains a key player in the market.
Luxury brands are also getting in on the slip-on trend, teaming up with top footwear names to attract the Gen Z market, which values both comfort and style. In 2024, Asics partnered with Cecile Bahnsen, while Crocs collaborated with Simone Rocha, resulting in triple-digit price premiums on StockX, with prices jumping from $250 to $400. The 2023 Nike x Martine Rose mule has also maintained a solid premium and steady resale prices on the platform, further reflecting the ongoing trend.
As we see a shift in footwear silhouettes, there’s also a growing demand for more experimental, yet comfortable, choices, often falling under the ‘ugly’ shoe category. Slip on footwear is also becoming bolder in its designs, appealing to customers seeking avant-garde or statement pieces especially.. The ‘ugly’ shoe pioneer Crocs has maintained its position as the second best-selling show on StockX due to their character-inspired releases and collaborations. Their Crocs Mater Clog (released in October 2023) surpassing all previous Crocs collaborations in terms of release-week trades, and the Crocs x Shrek(released in September 2023) hitting over 11,000 trades to date.
