VIPER caught up with Paris-born DJ, producer and creative MANSO̶U̶R̶, following the release of his ‘not disturb’ EP. Get familiar...
What five words define your sound?
Bold, Playful, Lively, Sensitive, Timeless.
Tell me something unique about your creative process
I’d say I let my emotions take the lead, keeping it instinctive. Sometimes it’s raw, sometimes it’s refined, but it’s always an honest reflection of where I am right then. Each piece captures a unique mood, like a frame from my mind that I might revisit someday.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
Without a doubt, ‘FEED THE FIRE’ by MANSO̶U̶R̶, Sam Wise and JAMO BEATZ.
What inspired you to make that song?
Honestly, that song still surprises me till this day. I realised that no matter how prepared you are for a studio session, things rarely go as planned. Real magic happens when you truly connect with someone —something incredible can emerge. Sammy and JAMO are legends to me and creating with them was amazing. We ended up making something timeless — the kind of music that makes you feel something, no matter where or when you hear it.
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when making music?
Honestly, I’m vulnerable all the time when I make music. I like to simply be myself and fully embrace my feelings. Dive into my emotions, share my experiences and struggles without holding back. It’s my own therapy — just being comfortable with who I am.
What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?
I’d say YARD SUMMER CLUB 22 – CLOSING PARTY with my cousin @hony_zuka – at home, in Paris. The energy was crazy, really CRAZY. Crowd was incredible too. Everyone was there, both from Paris and London, and we absolutely rocked the place. (nasty clip here) Moments like this reinforce my pride in the city I come from. For the worst one, tbh, like many DJs, I’ve had my fair share of tough moments especially when the sound just shuts down for no reason.
What is your favourite song to play at a show?
‘MY TYPE; by MANSO̶U̶R̶, BXKS and Odunsi (The Engine). Makes people go wild every time. There’s just something about that beat that brings the energy up instantly, I think.
Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?
Definitely ‘J.O.$’ by Josman, that’s an album I wish I had produced. Shout out Eazy Dew.
What’s the meaning behind your name?
It’s simply me — my name already says enough. It means “He who is victorious” and that’s a meaning I carry with pride.
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?
I’ve never really thought about it, you know. But what I do know is that it would have to be something creative. Expressing myself through art or anything creative has always been essential, so whatever I’d be doing, it would definitely involve creating.
What’s success to you?
I think it’s about making mistakes, getting back up, learning from each experience and gaining more wisdom along the way. It’s all about understanding who you are and growing through each moment.
What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?
After releasing a project a while ago, I realised I was more excited about just putting out music than really understanding my own capabilities at the time. That experience pushed me to slow down, dive deeper into my craft and focus on exploring what I’m truly capable of.
