Holzweiler brings together a Norwegian creative force from the worlds of fashion, hospitality and art to present a unique collaboration, debuting during Paris Fashion Week.
In line with Holzweiler’s continued commitment to collaboration across lifestyle and the arts, the capsule represents the brand’s family values, coming to life as a result of a longstanding friendship between the Holzweiler family and Caviar Kaspia restaurateurs Anoushka Gresvig Mac-Crohon and Ramon Mac-Crohon. Anoushka, a Norwegian in Paris, originally bonded with the Holzweiler founders over a shared pride in their roots – championing the brand from the very early days as the Holzweilers conducted their first sales season in Paris, introducing a collection of lambswool-cashmere scarves to the international fashion community. From there, the word spread about Norway’s latest export and true connections were built; no doubt in part thanks to industry dinners held at Caviar Kaspia during Paris Fashion Weeks where the Holzweiler scarves were gifted to guests to keep warm when dining on the terrace.
Holzweiler has continued to frequent Caviar Kaspia over the brand’s 10 years of trips to Paris, hosting friends and family for special occasions. The start of many a tale, Caviar Kaspia has been the luxurious dining spot of choice for countless high-profile guests over the years, most notably within the fashion community – as the New York Times puts it, ‘where Caviar Kaspia goes, fashion follows’. Its iconic decor and menu of delicacies have inspired fashion collaborations over the years from Casablanca to Off White.
Anoushka Gresvig Mac-Crohon, Caviar Kaspia Co-Founder says: “It’s an honour for us to host Holzweiler for this special project in their tenth anniversary year at Caviar Kaspia. We love and adore what they do, and they have become family to us. As a Norwegian, I am very proud that this event will celebrate Norwegian fashion, art and food.”
One of Norway’s most notorious creative talents, multi-media artist Bjarne Melgaard has been on the vision board for Holzweiler to collaborate with since the brand’s inception. Here, Melgaard’s illustrations feature across the 18-piece capsule and a series of custom sculptures, made from deadstock Holzweiler material, form a limited art installation in the entrance to Caviar Kaspia. Recognised for his controversial exploration of the extremes, Melgaard’s work pushes boundaries and courts controversy – always with a playful approach. Having previously experimented in fashion through collaborations with the likes of Eckhaus Latta and Proenza Schouler, as well as his eponymous line MELGAARD, the artist brings his love of streetwear codes such as graphics and bold colour to the capsule.
The collection includes a selection of familiar ready-to-wear Holzweiler styles – down outerwear, lambswool and silk scarves and relaxed jersey tees and hoodies – in pink and grey marl hues. The Holzweiler Cocoon bag and a merch edit completes the capsule. Throughout the collection, Melgaard introduces ‘Mr Caviar’ and ‘Miss Caviar’, imaginary personas that take an illustrated form alongside lighthearted slogans such as ‘We live together and we caviar together’.
The Holzweiler family, including Andreas (CEO), Susanne (CCO) and Maria (Creative Director) say of the collaboration: “As we head into our ten-year celebrations, this feels like a real ‘pinch me’ moment. The team behind Caviar Kaspia are our family – it’s our home in Paris, and it’s always been our dream to create something together. Adding Bjarne into the mix makes this extra special…In the early days of Holzweiler, we wrote a list of dream collaborators and his name was at the top. The outcome of this project really feels like a little taste of what’s to come from Holzweiler for the next ten years – playful, hyper-creative but still intrinsically ‘us’.”
The Holzweiler x Caviar Kaspia x Bjarne Melgaard collection launches exclusively on www.holzweileroslo.com on 1st October 2024, and will then be available via select global retailers.
