What five words define your sound?
Culture, Storytelling, poetic, catchy, melodies.
Tell me something unique about your creative process?
I enjoy humming the melodies to any beat I listen to and find it quite interesting when I translate those melodies to actual words.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
‘oSHAPIANO’
What inspired you to make that song?
My life experience and also how it feels with my music gradually growing and breaking out to more audiences as I’ve always hoped for.
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?
[Laughs] I actually can’t remember any situations like that.
What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?
Every moment I spend on stage is actually my best, as I enjoy myself, and try to spread the best energy throughout my performance. As for the worst experience, I can say none for now, and hopefully not ever [laughs].
What is your favourite song to perform?
[Laughs] ‘LIFE OF THE PARTY’ for now I guess.
Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?
Burna Boy, Zinoleesky and Olamide.
What’s the meaning behind your name?
oSHAMO – I got the name from one of Olamide’s songs, a long time ago. It means, “you already know.”
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?
I would continue the launch of my e-commerce store. As I have a bit of a network, I’m able to drive that towards monetization.
What’s success to you?
When I’m able to build a company to earn passive income of over six figures every month, with my family and I being in good health to enjoy such wealth, and when I’m also in a position where I can create job employment opportunities for people that need it.
What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?
Hmm, I guess when I realised how much joy I get from making music and the reception I get from singing as well. I slowly drifted from the 10/10 schoolboy I used to be.
Where can people keep in touch with you?
It’s @official_oshamo on all platforms!
