Originally released in 1982, when Leonardo Servadio joined forces with the esteemed designer, Marc Sadler, they together championed Ellesse to pioneer the creation of a unique, ‘court meets industrial’ silhouette’. A true fusion of two separated worlds, and the first of its kind. Now in 2020, the Tanker returns in both a re-work of its original form; the Tanker OG, and in an array of 4 updated contemporary colourways. New designs show off a pair of dusty pink, off-white, all white and black with all styles utilising pops of colour across the eyelets, midsole and classic semi-pala logo.
Still maintaining the shoe’s original colour palette that kickstarted the brands’ notoriety in the 1980s is seen applied up with a fresher approach seen in the classic, twin-cup sole which also serves as a nod to Ellesse’s tennis heritage.
Sadler’s industrial-inspired style features throughout the Tanker including the unique outer sole to Classic Jacquard branding features across the side-wall and tongue label as a final touch, prompting nostalgia coming from Ellesse’s surprising origins also laying in tailoring.
The Ellesse Tanker features throughout the brand’s SS20 campaign and is available from ellesse.com
