RICKY BRAVO INTERVIEW: Ricky Bravo gives dense rhymes filled with vivid observations and experiences in East New York, Brooklyn while pairing bouncy productions with laid back flows. Get familiar…
What five words define your sound?
Warm, smooth, bouncey, strong, and unique.
Tell me something unique about your creative process?
When creating, I like to let the beats tell me what to do or what to talk about. After the beats tell me, I just speak on how I feel and think at that exact moment.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
‘Forever Havin’!’ It’s just a fun song full of fly topics.
What inspired you to make that song?
I was in Miami recording in a beautiful Air B&B on the water after coming from Club LIV, I just felt really cool, [laughs]!
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?
As vulnerable as possible! I try not to hold back because someone out there will feel that same experience.
What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?
The best experience was probably performing in my hometown in NY! They love me and I love them. The worst experience was performing with a terrible DJ I didn’t know. He messed up everything [laughs].
What is your favourite song to perform?
My favourite song has to be either ‘GO GIRL’ or ‘DIP’ – both beats are crazy and they rock anywhere anytime!

Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?
I’d say Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Kush & Orange Juice’.
What’s the meaning behind your name?
My nickname is Ricky, and “Bravo” came from when I was playing basketball. I was a very flashy, fun-styled player that liked to entertain spectators.
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?
I would probably be into tech or something or playing overseas basketball [laughs].
What’s success to you?
Success to me is being able to be free and 200% at peace with yourself and the world.
What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?
I was able to pay my phone bill once off selling beats, and at that moment I locked in with it.
Where can people keep in touch with you?
@rickybravo__ on everything!!
