[FEATURE] MY FAVOURITE MIXTAPE: TIZ EAST

Newham musician, TiZ East, reveals to VIPER why this UK Rap classic is his favourite mixtape ever…

What’s your favourite mixtape ever?

My favourite mixtape is Potter Payper’s ‘Training Day 1’.

Why is it so significant to you?

It’s significant because coming from where I do, I can relate to what he’s talking about. It made me wanna rap and tell my story.

Were there any artists or producers that you discovered through this tape?

There was only one feature so not really.

Where exactly were you when you heard the mixtape for the first time?

I was just on the block chilling and one of my guys started playing it, I was hooked from then.

Did it come into your life at a significant time?

Yeah it came during my teenage years, so it shaped a lot of the music that I listen to and relate to in my adult life now.

Describe the mixtape in three words?

Real life rap.

What song is your personal favourite?

‘Too Much Years’.

If you could put a price on this mixtape, how much would you pay?

This tape is priceless, it made me wanna rap.

Did you have a physical copy?

Yeah I don’t know how I ended up with one, but long story short I have one.
