7 BEST MOMENTS: SKYLA TYLAA’S HEADLINE SHOW
On April 10th, Skyla Tylaa, a DJ and producer raised between Kennington and Vauxhall with Jamaican roots running deep, stepped up for a headline show at KOKO that sold out weeks in advance. Across nearly seven hours, a stacked lineup of selectors including Philou Louzolo, AB Dollars, Miro, and Gadget b2b Nesa Thea built the energy before Skyla herself delivered a 90 minute masterclass. By the time the night wrapped at 5am, it was clear: this wasn’t just another club night. It was a coronation. Here are the best moments…
1. A Slow‑Burn Lineup That Paid Off
The night was designed as a journey. Kamo warmed things up with Lulaz from 10.45pm, followed by AB Dollars for an hour of rising energy. Then Philou Louzolo took over from 12.15am, bridging the gap between warm‑up and peak time. By the time Philou finished just before 1.30am, the room was packed and buzzing. It was a reminder that the best club nights are built on patience and trust.
2. Skyla Takes the Decks to a Sold‑Out Room
At 1.30am, Skyla Tylaa stepped into the booth with Pelle, Solaariss, Willz and Lulaz. The reception was instant. She moved with the ease of someone who has opened for Wizkid and Burna Boy, sold out international dates, and spent years sharpening her instincts. Dressed sharp and locked in, she dropped into a selection that spanned Amapiano, Afro‑house, and the UK Funky and Garage sounds that raised her. Every corner of KOKO was full. Every person there had secured a ticket before they vanished.
3. A Nod to Her Jamaican Roots
Between the log drums and synth stabs, Skyla wove in moments of Dancehall and Reggae. It was subtle but deliberate. She has never hidden her heritage, and last night she made sure the crowd felt it. The blend was seamless, a reminder that London’s Amapiano scene doesn’t exist in isolation. It shares space with sounds from the Caribbean, the continent, and the city’s own history.
