MEET THE PRODUCERS: 300 SONGS AND A CASIO KEYBOARD – HOW DEEZLE BUILT THE SOUND OF A GENERATION

The Producer’s Cut: Deezle on Genre-Hopping and the Legacy of New Orleans
Deezle doesn’t believe in boundaries. Born and bred in the rich musical tapestry of New Orleans, his approach to production is less about sticking to a script and more about “adaptive” artistry. It is a mindset that has seen him move seamlessly from school band rooms to winning Grammys, crafting the backdrop for some of the most influential records of the 21st century.
His work on tracks like ‘Lollipop’ and ‘Mrs. Officer’ cemented his status as a hitmaker, but it is his technical curiosity—fuelled by heavy study of legends like Quincy Jones and Nile Rodgers—that keeps his sound fresh. Whether he is producing a single in ten different styles or collaborating on gritty street anthems, Deezle remains driven by the raw inspiration of life and experience. In an industry that often demands artists pick a lane, Deezle has built a career by mastering them all.
What’s your name?
Deezle
Where are you from?
I’m from New Orleans.
How would you describe your production style?
I would consider myself an adaptive producer and artist, because I can produce music in any style. I’v done Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, RnB, Gospel, Metal, Punk and Classical.
What would you say are the most popular beats you’ve created?
Three of the most popular beats I’ve created are ‘Lollipop’, ‘Mrs. Officer’, and ‘Let The Beat Build’ all by Lil Wayne.
What is your favourite song that you’ve worked on and why?
It’s really difficult to pick a favourite because I have over 300 songs in my catalog, but ‘Let The Beat Build’ is definitely in the top of that list because the creative process was so unorthodox and fresh as far as style of production and the collaboration between Wayne and I.
