[FEATURE] MY FAVOURITE MIXTAPE: DARKOVIBES

Ghanaian singer/songwriter and afrobeats extraordinaire DarkoVibes tells VIPER about his favourite mixtape…

What’s your favourite mixtape ever?

‘Victory Through Harmony’ by Omar Sterling

Why is it so significant to you?

It changed my life. Felt like it was made for me. I was in a very dark place at that time. Didn’t know if I was even going to make it or society was going to accept me! That mixtape took me out of my circle to find my own shape.

Were there any artists or producers that you discovered through this tape?

It was mostly Omar Sterling on that mixtape, but I also discovered the producers Killmatic and Bali in the process.

Where exactly were you when you heard the mixtape for the first time?

I was in Mallam Gbawe [Ghana] when I heard it.

Did it come into your life at a significant time?

Yes it did, as I mentioned before I was in a dark place at the time and it really helped me.

How did the mixtape cover make you feel?

It uplifted my spirit.

Describe the mixtape in three words?

Insightful, spiritual and positive.

What song is your personal favourite?

‘Exodus’ featuring Wizkid

If you could put a price on this mixtape, how much would you pay?

It’s priceless!

Did you have a physical copy?

No, I am an Internet babe. We stream!

No? Which is your favourite that you have a physical copy of?

We stream!
