What five words define your sound?

Energetic, Colourful, Uplifting, Powerful, Unique.

Tell me something unique about your creative process.

My creative process is weird, sometimes I’ll solely make drums or basses, and then further down the line i’ll put them together and it works – or sometimes not. Mainly though when I’m making a song I’ll always need a melody to run from, and if it’s a sick melody there’s so many avenues I can go down to expand on the vibe of the tune. 

Which song of yours would you like people to hear first? 

I’d like people to hear ‘Origins’ first, as it’s the first time I’ve tried to make a big and dramatic tune that isn’t vocal-led. Alternatively ‘Sprinta’ has such a vibe as well. 

What inspired you to make that song?

I had just been booked for the Origin Stage at Boomtown and I had been watching bigger DnB DJs set intros on YouTube and decided that I needed something super dramatic to make a big statement. So the next day i got into the studio straight away and managed to make that real fast!

What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?

I wouldn’t say I ever feel vulnerable when making songs, as I find it fun. But sometimes I get very annoyed if something isn’t going my way in the studio! 

What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?

Pressing pause on Printworks main room wasn’t my finest hour; shit happens though. Best experience would be playing Origin @ Boomtown.

What is your favourite song to perform?

I love playing ‘Sprinta’ because it’s just such a vibe and so sassy.

What artist/song/album made you want to make music?

Chase and Status and Skrillex, I love how their sound is so fresh even years after the release.

If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?

Probably something crazy like a skydive instructor or something, something that means I’m not stuck in an office 9-5.

What’s success to you?

Success is being happy and enjoying the music making process and release process. And also providing for my family. 

What’s the meaning behind your name?

It’s just my name Anais! It means white mountain flower in French.

What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?

I’ve stayed pretty stable with the sound I want to push since I started. Going to uni at DBS bristol gave me loads of time to work on my craft.
