What five words define your sound? 

Culture, fusion, experimental, passionate, fun.

Tell me something unique about your creative process.

My unique creative process is there is never one way to make a hit. The beauty is playing around with the approach and flowing. There is never a one way method to the madness.

Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?

‘I Adore You’, is the song that I feel connects the two worlds (Afro and House) that bring] this fusion that I love personally, and hopefully people are loving as well.

What inspired you to make that song?

The song is about their being many people in a crowd but out of all of them the focus is on her. She is the most captivating thing and well, I Adore Her.

What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?

Most vulnerable is everyday for me. I literally have two hearts on my sleeve as a tattoo that remind me me of it.

What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?

The best experience is really just being able to perform to such big crowds and really see people interact with my music. I can’t think of a worse experience, I wouldn’t even call it worse but I would say just technical problems sometimes with sound can be a challenge. Especially sometimes when schedules get crazy and we don’t get to sound check, but we always try put on the best show given any circumstance

The acoustic version of ‘I Adore You’ 

Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?

Mario – ‘Turning Point’

What’s the meaning behind your name?

Daecolm means – everything and anything at the same time. My parents actually made it up and ended up being the only name in the world (I use to check every other day on Google as a kid) 

If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?

If I wasn’t making music I would have done digital design. Something in design or hospitality.

What’s success to you?

Success to me is bringing out the emotions in other people in the most positive way. Making people feel something. 

What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?

I believe I’ve always been the type of artist to be able to adapt. Hence I’ve always believed in being a fusion artist. I don’t like to stick to one sound but I have always kept Africa as my core. My approach and style to making music starts with my culture and up bringing.
