GOAT in the game, Nas, celebrates the 25th anniversary of his seminal 1996 album, ‘It Was Written’.
Ask many Hip Hop heads who’s in their Top Five MCs and the majority will have Nas in there. The quick-witted Queens lyricist has announced a re-issue of the album in celebration of 25 years since its release.
The ‘It Was Written’ re-issue is set for release tomorrow, the 2nd of July, with the expanded edition featuring the original 14 tracks plus two previously unheard new tracks ‘Silent Murder’ and ‘Street Dreams (Bonus Verse)’.
Dropping alongside the album is the mini-documentary above, produced by Sony Music and Certified, charting the album’s creation, release and how it catapulted Nas from the New York’s underground Hip Hop scene into the wider American cultural psyche.
To commemoration this milestone, get alimited edition collectible 25th anniversary physical version of ‘It Was Written’, including a 2LP Silver and Clear Galaxy Effect coloured vinyl edition housed in a gatefold jacket. Also available is an old-school cassette with an original eight panel J-Card, featuring full lyrics housed in a custom slip case, all available for pre-order.
