Get familiar…
What three words define your sound?
Unfiltered, honest, heartfelt.
Tell me something unique about your creative process?
I record a few takes of melody ideas and then piece the song together with them. Then I write to those melodies and try to find syllables that fit with it.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
‘Light & Dark’
What inspired you to make that song?
Just life you know, I started doing a few Ed Sheeran covers and then I thought I need to make something of my own with the same feeling.
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?
Probably my song ‘ain’t legal’ on my EP ‘Trapblues’; I don’t glamourise it at all in that song and it’s more of a reflection on how I fit the stereotypical misconceptions of a typical young black male from London.
What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?
My worst experience was at a gig I did for Hak Baker; I dunno why I but I literally forgot the chords to one of my songs and couldn’t get it, so I skipped that song. Best experience on stage would probably be my performance at Cafe KOKO! It was busy and everyone was talking and then the first few lines I started singing, the noise just completely stopped and everyone was fully engaged which was great.
What is your favourite song to perform?
‘Another life’.
Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?
50 Cent – ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin”.
What’s the meaning behind your name?
It’s my actual name and my birthday.
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?
I probably would have been a physiotherapist or opened my own business, which I will still probably do after music to be honest.
What’s success to you?
Success to me means reaching your goals and aspirations that you set in life, being financially free and being able to take care of your friends and family.
What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?
I would say when my dad left, I was pursuing a footballing career heavily and once he left I stopped playing football at a high level and started doing other stuff.
Where can people keep in touch with you?
Anywhere online! Instagram is where I’m most active.
