POIISON INTERVIEW: VIPER PRESENTS [FEATURE]

POIISON INTERVIEW

POIISON INTERVIEW: Poiison is a rising star hailing from New York, who’s quickly making her mark on the music scene. Get familiar…

What five words define your sound?

Refreshing, Vulnerable, Energetic but still Melodic and textural.

Tell me something unique about your creative process?

Sometimes I’ll start at the end of a verse and work my way backwards. I haven’t come across many people who create like that.

Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?

‘Me, Her & You’ featuring Cash Cobain.

What inspired you to make that song?

Just feeling the vibe of the beat. I started humming melodies that matched the energy and I was in this bubbly, flirty mood; You can hear it in the song. We were just vibing and not overthinking anything that day.

What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?

Every song has a layer of vulnerability for me. I’ve taken it there, maybe even said too much at times, but that’s what makes me, me. We’re gonna get vulnerable.

What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?

I can’t pinpoint one specific bad experience. As for the best experience, it had to be opening for 50 Cent at the Coney Island Art Walls. The stage was huge, the energy was awesome it just felt different.

What is your favorite song to perform?

Right now, it’s definitely ‘I’m Her’ the ‘Forgot About Dre’ flip I did on On The Radar.

Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?

I have to credit Lil Wayne. He’s been inspiring me from day one. I can’t forget Lil’ Kim from a female Rap perspective and Madonna from a Pop standpoint. Kevin Gates also inspired me just by being different. He’s one of those artists who doesn’t fit into one genre or sound.

What’s the meaning behind your name?

Poiison is inspired by Poison Ivy, the Batman character but I’m flipping it. Poison’s often seen as dangerous, but I’m turning it into something powerful and unstoppable. Like Ivy, I spread my message and vibe. It’s about growth, strength and influence, with that raw, untouchable energy.

If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?

On one hand, I honestly don’t know where I’d be without music; It really saved me. But on the other hand, if I weren’t doing this, I’d probably be an herbalist, archaeologist, or a humanitarian traveling and giving back to the world. Anything to do with people, I’ve got a real passion for helping and uplifting others.

What’s success to you?

The ability to do what you love, when you want, with the people you choose. It’s creating opportunities on your own terms. Ultimately, success is having peace with yourself and with God, knowing you’re making choices that align with who you are, without worrying about finances; It’s freedom with no limits.

What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?

I was caught up in too many party antics and it ended up taking a toll on me physically and mentally; I was just drained and empty. I fell into a really dark place and just woke up .. it’s either sink or swim.

Where can people keep in touch with you?

You can follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok @Poiison911. I also have a website, Poiison.com.
