[STYLE] HOMMEGIRLS X OTW BY VANS
OTW by Vans, has come together with HommeGirls, the cult-favourite, menswear-inspired independent magazine and apparel brand, for their first capsule collection.
This 6-piece collaboration includes both footwear—a fresh HommeGirls spin on the OTW Sk8-Mid 83— and new iterations of the menswear basics HommeGirls fans know and love: Boxer Shorts that merge Vans’ iconic checkerboard print with the HG and OTW logo, a cotton ribbed Tank Top with an embroidered Vans skateboard accent, a vintage-wash Long Sleeve Crop T-Shirt with both the HG and OTW insignias, and ruffle-hem ribbed Crew Socks.
In keeping with OTW by Vans’ commitment to elevated construction and materials, the OTW by Vans x HommeGirls Sk8-Mid 83 has been outfitted with a premium suede and canvas upper. Upon this base, HommeGirls has oversized the signature Sidestripe and elongated the shoe tongue so that it doubles over the laces for a bold new take on a beloved classic. Available in both black and white colorways, the white version of the shoe also features the HG logo interwoven within the Vans checkerboard for a perfect marriage of the collaborators.
Thakoon Panichgul, Founder of HommeGirls, says that when designing the collection, “we wanted to tap into the core and common essences of both brands, which speak to originality and attitude. The collection plays up Vans and HommeGirls classics — like the OTW Sk8-Mid 83 with an extra long tongue, and our HommeGirls original boxers with Vans’ iconic checkerboard pattern.”
For the campaign, HommeGirls and OTW by Vans tapped talents who authentically exemplify the youthful and perennially cool essence of both brands: surfer, skater, model, and HommeGirls cover star Devyn Garcia is seen alongside Vans Skate Team Riders Etienne Gagne and Stafhon Boca on the streets of New York City. The trio was shot by Grace Ahlbom and styled by Flo Arnold.
HommeGirls Creative Director, Jen Brill, says that “honing in on the intersection between skate and style was top of mind for this collaboration. Grace Ahlbom, who has built an incredible body of work in the fashion space, also has deep roots in skate reportage photography. She owns this unique space that bridges both worlds, much like the OTW by Vans x HommeGirls collection, so she was our first choice to create this imagery. She is one of our favorite collaborators at the magazine. Meanwhile, Devyn Garcia is someone we’ve wanted to work with for a long time, and this special collaboration presented the perfect opportunity. She grew up surfing and skating, and is now a bonafide supermodel. She embodies the spirit of the ultimate HommeGirl.”
The OTW by Vans x HommeGirls collection will be available to shop beginning October 24, 2024 from select OTW stores.
