Dr. Martens reunites with TATE to celebrate the work of provocative surrealist Ithell Colquhoun…
Ithell Colquhoun was a provocative artist who refused to conform or compromise. Her work is deeply grounded in the occult and nature — and frequently explores sex and gender. Often overlooked alongside the towering male figures of surrealism, our collaboration with Tate celebrates her work — with our boots as the canvas.
Creativity and resilience are stitched into the DNA of Dr. Martens — our boots have been adopted for decades by artists and individuals who champion underrepresented voices and fight for progress. Our latest collaboration with Tate imbues our classic 1460 boot with the attitude of provocative British surrealist and occultist Ithell Colquhoun — showcasing two of her most expressive works: ‘Volcanic Flare’ and ‘Example of Decalcomania Technique’ © Tate.
Both boots are equipped with durable Dr. Martens construction: built on a grooved sole secured with signature yellow welt stitching. They are also tagged with our distinctive black and yellow heel loop. The collection also includes a Backpack adorned with both images.
The collaboration drops the 28th of September at drmartens.com and select partners.
