[NEWS] FARFETCH PARTNERS WITH MAD TO CUSTOMISE 10 CONTAX T2 CAMERAS

FARFETCH Limited (NYSE: FTCH), the global destination for modern luxury, has announced the fifth release from FARFETCH BEAT, the new concept retail series that introduces exclusive product experiences to an international audience. For BEAT 005, MAD has produced an exclusive limited edition series of Contax T2 cameras in five unique new colourways.

First loved by professional photographers for its top-quality build, manual aperture control, and beautifully sharp lens, the point-and-shoot Contax T2 has a continued cultural relevance and notable fans amongst leading creative voices, including Juergen Teller, Sofia Coppola, Daniel Arsham and Frank Ocean.

To celebrate and showcase this exclusive collaboration, FARFETCH created an intimate shoot in London with the model, actress and artist Aweng Chuol and film-maker and model Arnaud Lin taking selfies with their Contax T2 cameras, demonstrating that they are the only accessory you need.

Ronojoy Dam, Global Director, Brand & Culture, FARFETCH said: “Regardless of the hype, the Contax T2’s status as the cult point-and-shoot camera for over 30 years is built on its exceptional performance and results. After all, personal photographs are one of life’s greatest luxuries. Some say you can’t improve a classic, but MAD have proven otherwise with their visionary customisation of timepieces and jewellery, and they have done so again with this limited edition version of the camera.”

The T2 was first introduced in 1990 and is a cult classic; extremely solid build with simple ergonomics. The beautiful, solid metal chassis is made in Japan, coupled with the renowned Carl Zeiss T* multi-coated Sonnar 2.8/38 lens comprising 5 elements in 5 groups and user-friendly features. While it offers full automation, including Autofocus and Program AE, the Contax T2 was one of the most intuitive cameras of its era, featuring Aperture Priority AE selection, exposure compensation +/-2EV in 1⁄2 EV steps and manual focus on a dial. The given viewfinder of its time gave an impressive shutter speed and focus lock confirmation.

The limited edition collection is now available exclusively on FARFETCH priced at £4,500 GBP/5300.00 EUR/$5,200.00 USD.
