New music from the national treasure they call Vince Staples…
Not only do we get a new song, it comes with a striking visual, plus news of an album OTW! The new project is set to be a self-titled affair and marks the first full-length project from the Long Beach native, in three years.
Needless to say, we’re enormous fans of Vince Staples, who graced our SS15 cover alongside friend and collaborator, Earl Sweatshirt. We’re counting down the days until the release of the album, on July 9th via Blacksmith Recordings / Motown Records / EMI Records. In the meantime, peep the cinematic visual above, directed by Kid. Studio.
Speaking of the title choice for his Kenny-Beats produced LP, Staples says, “it really gives much more information about me that wasn’t out there before. That’s why I went with that title. I feel like I’ve been trying to tell the same story. As you go on in life, your point of view changes. This is another take on myself that I might not have had before.”
He added, ““I’m a mind more than I am an entertainer to a lot of people,” Staples says, adding “I appreciate that my fanbase is willing to go on this ride with me. I’m ready to diversify what we’re doing and see how we affect the world.”
