[ART] UNSEEN JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT WORKS TO BE EXHIBITED BY HIS FAMILY

We’re excited to announce that the family of Jean-Michel Basquiat will be unveiling over 200 never-before and rarely-seen artworks to the public. Titled “Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure” the exhibited works include paintings, drawings, multimedia presentations, ephemera and artefacts.

The brainchild of his sisters Lisane Basquiat and Jeanine Heriveaux, Lisane said, “We wanted to bring his work and personality forward, in a way only his family can, for people to immerse themselves in. We want this to be a multi-dimensional celebration of Jean-Michel’s life.”

One of the most important artists of all time, Basquiat was raised in New York by Haitian parents. His work bridged the gap between graffiti and gallery art, bringing what was considered “low culture” to an elite audience. Without him, many modern artists wouldn’t have been able to make the transition into galleries.

Opening in early spring 2022, “Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure” will be located at NYC’s Starrett-Lehigh Building.
