Channeling a blend of alluring vocal performances and dynamic beats, Jaela’s ‘In The Mood’ EP has a song for every mood – no matter what day you’re having.
The project takes inspiration from the multiplicity of genres currently popping in the UK. From trap to R&B, drill to afrobeats, each song takes on a different diaspora, looking to move the genre out of its usual conventions.
‘Kitty’, one of several standout cuts, synthesises a UK drill-strumental with a sugary melody, nurturing Jaela’s honeyed vocals. Such a formula takes place on ‘Dynamite’ too, where the viciousness of a snare heavy trap beat juxtaposes the wordstress’ syrupy verses.
Jaela first started to garnish attention last year after her single ‘Agua’ organically achieved radio support from BBC Radio 1, 1XTRA, Reprezent and No Signal. All this success as an independent artist proves the Londoner is a serious one to watch over the coming annum, and she has certainly kicked off the year well with ‘In The Mood’.
