THE FRIDAY ROTATION | OCTOBER 16TH: THIS WEEK’S TOP 3 ESSENTIAL TRACKS
THE FRIDAY ROTATION | OCTOBER 16TH – October is operating at peak velocity, delivering some of the most critical artistic statements of the season.
While our full, exhaustive breakdown of the week’s new studio albums is live across the site, we have unlocked the three absolute mandatory tracks you need to lock into your rotation immediately.
From timeless Boom Bap links to dark Atlanta trap-soul and unhinged, high-octane rap flexes, here is the selection you cannot afford to miss this weekend.
1. Statik Selektah ft Freddie Gibbs, Ab-Soul & Raekwon – ‘Champagne Wishes’
Producer Statik Selektah scores a major win by bringing Freddie Gibbs, Ab-Soul, and Raekwon together on one track. ‘Champagne Wishes’ skips current trends, leaning into pure rap craftsmanship. Built on a chopped vinyl soul sample and crisp boom-bap drums, all three lyricists bring their absolute A-game.
-
Sonics: Chopped vinyl soul samples, crisp boom-bap snare cracks, deep basslines, and steady, authoritative rap flows.

2. Offset ft Don Toliver – ‘Everyday Night’
Offset and Don Toliver turn in pure late-night energy with ‘Everyday Night’. Toliver’s floating hook sets a hazy, dark mood that allows Offset to cut through with sharp, cadence-driven verses over heavy sub-bass. It’s a slick, atmospheric trap record engineered for late city drives.
-
Sonics: Atmospheric synth pads, heavy sub-bass 808s, rapid hi-hat rolls, and floating, reverb-heavy vocals.
