[STYLE] INTRODUCING BIRKENSTOCK STUDIO: WALK WITH ME
BIRKENSTOCK presents a first-of-its-kind community studio to host, partner with and promote a series of multidisciplinary artists-in-residence in London’s creative neighbourhood, The Truman Brewery.
BIRKENSTOCK is rooted in the anatomically contoured footbed — grounded in the pursuit of walking as nature intended — and its products are crafted within a 250-year tradition of German shoemaking.
The brand is known worldwide for its iconic range of sandals, clogs and shoes, which become interwoven in the lives of their owners. Communities of BIRKENSTOCK lovers have established the brand globally as a go-to footwear choice for the crafted and considered.
The BIRKENSTOCK STUDIO: WALK WITH ME initiative is a free programme of events and workshops through which the brand connects and collaborates with London’s creative community.
BIRKENSTOCK STUDIO: WALK WITH ME is a reference to our lives in motion and the need to find opportunities to connect with and learn from one another. We will work with some of the city’s most respected creators and facilitate the coming together of people to learn about, discuss and experience the brands iconic design and unique craftsmanship. The invitation is to walk with our artists step-by-step and to discover the possibilities of creative community.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE #1: HELEN KIRKUM
Londoner and RCA graduate Helen Kirkum is at the cutting edge of the sustainable footwear movement. Her creations tell challenging stories of design, craft, product, and value — and invite us to rethink the nature and meaning of art and consumption. In a series of open-door workshops, Helen will be creating a series of one-off pieces, which will give a rare insight into her innovative process, which perfectly matches the German brand’s DNA.
