What five words define your sound?
Soulful, R&B, modern, Hip Hop-influenced, Pop.
Tell me something unique about your creative process
I don’t follow a set blueprint when writing a song. Sometimes melodies come first and I let my subconscious lead me. Other times, I start with a specific idea I want to write about. Often, inspiration comes from conversations while hanging out, eating, or just living life. I’ve learned songs can be hidden in everyday moments. My process is always based on feels.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
Right now ‘Make Me Feel’. It’s a love song based on a true story, like all my songs, but this one feels especially important as it marks the start of my evolved musical identity.
What inspired you to make that song?
I was deeply in love when I wrote it and wanted a song to express my feelings for him. Honestly, that’s how it came about. What can I say, I’m a hopeless romantic [laughs]!
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?
I’ve shared things I sometimes feel embarrassed saying aloud. That’s usually how I know it needs to be said. Being vulnerable is part of the process.

What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?
I don’t really have a “worst” experience. Everything is a lesson. Once, a show was cancelled three minutes before I went on stage, which was upsetting at first, but I learned so much from it. I try to go with the flow and let things happen.
What is your favourite song to perform?
‘Loved You’. I love the uptempo energy of it.
Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?
Ms. Lauryn Hill was my first big inspiration. Later, songwriters like Frank Ocean inspired me to start writing my own music. I’ve always loved singing, but songwriting is what really sparked the fire in me.
What’s the meaning behind your name?
It means “patience” in Arabic, something you need a lot of in this business.
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?
Working on the business side of things in music or something in fashion, which is my other passion.
What’s success to you?
Waking up every day doing something you love and having the freedom to do it because your bills are paid.
What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?
When I was focusing only on songwriting, I realised it was difficult to sustain a living solely from it. That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands and create art just for me to share.
