INTRODUCING: ALIGHEIRI VANITAS: The VANITAS collection is a capsule of thirteen Modern Heirlooms, inspired by the confidence and curiosity of the cat. The collection explores the definition of “vanity”, posing questions about what it means to feel confident, proud and worthy.
“One of the worst sins in Dante’s afterworld is, indeed, pride: souls guilty of excessive pride are condemned to carrying heavy boulders on their back, weighed down for eternity. In light of these definitions and punishments, and alongside refrains we would often hear as kids (‘don’t be cocky’, ‘be humble’), I wanted to explore the idea of what it means to feel proud of oneself: a notion I never quite felt comfortable with.
This collection is an invitation to make time to take care of ourselves, both physically and emotionally: an invitation to embody the power of the cat. – R.M
