CONNIE DIIAMOND INTERVIEW

CONNIE DIIAMOND INTERVIEW: Connie Diiamond has been making waves in the hip-hop scene with her raw talent and fearless delivery. Her previous releases, including ‘Let Me See Something’ with Dusty Locane and ‘Shoot’ featured on the NBA 2K24 soundtrack, have garnered critical acclaim and significant streaming numbers. Get familiar…

What five words define your sound?

GRITTY, RAW, FUN, AGGRESSIVE, NEW YORK.

Tell me something unique about your creative process

I’d definitely say my obsession with BPM range. A lot of people don’t understand how much that can affects the outcome of a song. I love it and my songs aren’t complete until I tampered with the BPM.

Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?

I’d say my new song called ‘Jat’. It’s fun, energetic, and it’s my breakout record for the year since I haven’t dropped anything since last year for real.

What inspired you to make that song?

The inspiration behind ‘Jat’ was basically just for baddies and hood girls that feel like they can’t catch a break. They’re just navigating being themselves and they constantly still have haters, but they’re focused solely on just uplifting themselves and prospering and just paying people dust that really genuinely don’t have their best interest. Mostly keeping a tunnel vision.

What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?

Recently, I’ve been super vulnerable with my first release of the year, which was titled ‘Letter to my Fans’ where I broke down, just navigating through a hard time in life and becoming spiritually aligned again.

What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?

My homegirl KenTheMan who’s a rapper from Texas. She invited me to Rolling Loud and I jumped off the stage and I tore my meniscus and it still isn’t healed till this day.

What is your favourite song to perform?

My favourite song to perform is ‘Ghetto & Ratchet’.

Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?

There’s a few I love: Ludacris, Dipset, Missy Elliott, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes and Fabulous.

What’s the meaning behind your name?

Connie is a nickname from my first name and Diamond comes from my old Rap name which was black diamond. One of my homeboys made a mistake and called me Connie Diamond one day and it just stuck with me.

If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?

I’d probably be doing artist development. My love for music and the creative process is unmatched. I spent hours planning things for myself. I spent hours helping people all the time and my real goal is to open up an artist development, kinda agency or something for people.

What’s success to you?

Success to me is becoming the best version of yourself. Constantly making sure you evolve and reaching for the stars. Success to me is also accomplishing things fighting for things and finding what you really love and making sure you are working towards those goals.

What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?

Last year was a challenging time for me—I went through a lot of downtime and had multiple conflicts with my label. I also faced some personal struggles with family and friends. But through all of that, I was able to shift my perspective and redefine what true happiness means to me, both personally and professionally.

Where can people keep in touch with you?

I’m very active on all of my social sites but IG is always my go-to.
