What five words define your sound?

Magnificent, Amazing, Impeccable, 1of1, and Humongous.

Tell me something unique about your creative process

I can do it with ease. I don’t write down my raps, I have never written down a rap.

Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?

That’s a hard one. I’m going with ‘Big Juice’, ‘Christopher Wallace’, ‘Uh Huh Uh Huh Uh Huh’, and ‘Eat or Get Ate Intro’.

What inspired you to make that song?

At first ‘Uh Huh Uh Huh Uh Huh’ was called ‘Outstanding’. Then me and Dolph had a talk and he was like, “don’t you think it’d be better if you did this?” Dolph wanted me to replace the outstanding hook with the intro idea of uh huh uh huh. Then I went and did it, and we both smirked at each other saying, “yeah this is it.” The beat that I had and the vibe I was in at the moment made it perfect.

What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?

‘Never Come Second’, I was vulnerable on that one. I really went deep in my trials and tribulations that I went through. My momma tried to put me out the house and call child protective services on me ‘cause I was just too bad when I was young. Running the streets at a young age, me going to jail and what I was doing in jail, I just broke it down a little more.

What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?

My best experience I had on stage was when I came out on stage and they were just so happy to see me in a big venue. It was in Nashville in early 2022 on Glock’s Yellow Tape Tour. My worst experience I had on stage was when I was performing. I tried to jump off stage into the crowd and the cord from the speaker got caught on my shoe and both me and the speaker fell down. I caught myself and I ain’t fall, but the speaker fell. That was when I was on tour with Dolph and Glock. That was my first ever tour, the No Rules Tour, Dolph took me on tour right after he signed me.

What is your favourite song to perform?

‘Eat or Get Ate Intro’. Every time I perform that song, my fans go word for word. They be word for word to all my songs, but they be real intense with that one. It’s like they gotta rap this song when they hear me play it.

Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?

Dolph. When I was around Dolph, I wasn’t even rapping at first. I was on a whole other timing. Then I’m like let me start rapping. I’m already around the man, let me start rapping and see how it goes. I ended up making a song and went to jail the next day after I made the song. This was in the middle of 2018. I did a little time and he came and bonded me out. He was like, “brother just stay in the studio, you can do something.” That’s what I did and when he told me to stay in the studio, that’s all I did. I was real hungry. I knew it was gonna be something good behind it if somebody like this told me to stay in it.

What’s the meaning behind your name?

Big Moochie Grape because I’ve always been big not as in weight but like status. I had a big name in the streets. Plus my weight come with it too. Then Moochie was the name that my Grandmama gave me – rest in peace. My Grandmama and my Auntie came up with the nickname Moochie. Then Grape come from my crew.

If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?

I’d be in the streets most definitely. And if I wasn’t in the streets, I’d still want to make money and be successful.

What’s success to you?

Success means I’m winning all the way around the board. I got the people around me winning. Everybody living life ‘cause they only got one life to live. Before we leave, or before I leave, I can be like I did that. That’s real success to me. My kids are good, my family’s good whether I’m here or not. My folks are good, my bros are good and just everybody good. Making sure if I win, you win.

What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?

I wasn’t seeing what I wanted to see in my life. I thought maybe if I try this, I already got the guys and the right cheat code behind me, which was Dolph. Let me try this right here and see how this works. I tried it and it worked, so that’s what made me stick to it.
