DIONE INTERVIEW

DIONE INTERVIEW: Meet Dione, the 20-year-old Swedish sensation who is swiftly carving out her own lane in the world of alt-Pop. After making a strong statement with her debut EP, ‘Phases‘, and two subsequent singles, Dione is poised for her next major move. Dione is already turning heads on both sides of the Atlantic, recently logging high-profile sessions in LA with global stars like Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Uzi Vert, and Swedish House Mafia. Her visual identity is just as compelling; her striking video for “Feel” was directed by Gustav Stegfors (Yung Lean, Bladee), with creative direction from Viktor Agaton (Steve Lacy, Prada). Get familiar…

What five words define your sound?

Emotive, real, atmospheric, timeless, melodic,

Tell me something unique about your creative process.

I always start with a track that inspires me and puts me in the mood immediately.

Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?

‘On My Mind’.

What inspired you to make that song?

It was just the energy in the room that day, the people around me. It brought back memories of this party I went to, and there was one person on my mind. That feeling kind of shaped the whole track.

What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing or making music?

I think the most honest moments in my writing come when I allow myself to sit with my emotions, whether it’s something I’ve lived through, imagined, or even hoped for. Sometimes it’s not about a specific event, but more about a feeling I want to explore or express.

What’s the best or worst experience you’ve had on stage?

One of the most memorable moments for me was performing an unreleased track at Way Out West. It’s called ‘Heals Me’, and I officially released it just last month. The crowd’s reaction was unreal — they went absolutely crazy, and that energy was unforgettable to me.

What is your favourite song to perform?

Right now it’s ‘If I’m Gone’.

Which artist, song, or album made you want to make music?

Justin Bieber — ‘My World’ Album.

What’s the meaning behind your name?

Dione is a moon, and that symbolism really spoke to me. That’s why my first song was called ‘Moon in the Light’, and my debut EP was titled ‘Phases’, inspired by the moon’s different phases. It felt like the perfect way to represent the beginning of my artistic journey, the first chapter of my career.

If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?

I can’t see myself doing anything else, truly.

What’s success to you?

If I can get people to listen to my music and genuinely feel something, that’s more than enough.

What moment in your life or career forced you to change direction?

There was a time when I was making music that I thought people wanted to hear instead of what I actually felt. That realisation made me stop and reconnect with myself, to create from a real place again. It completely changed my sound and my mindset.
