What five words define your sound?
Nostalgic but unpredictable, playful, dynamic and honest. Describing it is just like describing myself.
Tell me something unique about your creative process.
I never spend too much time on a song the first time making it, I think every song is fragile and the second I feel uninspired I save it for later. Spending too much time on it is like leaving the milk out for too long. Which means I make at least three-four songs a session, if I get to have it my way.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
‘Touch M3 Right’ from my upcoming EP [laughs].
What inspired you to make that song?
Not wanting to let go. I think what scared me the most was the risk of falling out of love. I knew that if I did, everything would be over, but I forgot that when things end, other things begin.
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?
I allow myself to always be vulnerable. I’ve cried, laughed, shared secrets and deeped things that might not be that deep in the name of creating.
What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?
LONDON! The crowd was live on another level. Can’t wait to come back!
What is your favourite song to perform?
‘PIN code’. It doesn’t matter how the show is going, it’s like I’m under a spell every time.
Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?
I would have to say my dad. He’s not a famous singer but he sang at weddings, while cooking and to me before sleep, that must’ve altered my brain in a way.
What’s the meaning behind your name?
Raghd or رغد is in Arabic and means abundance and prosperity.
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?
Major in psychology and philosophy, do research, write books. I will still do those things. I’m actually studying as I’m writing this [laughs].
What’s success to you?
Proving to myself that I can do anything I set my mind to, no matter how difficult it seems to be.
What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?
September 2023 is when I decided to produce a project on my own. I didn’t know it back then but two years later and here I am.
