JUST GEO INTERVIEW: VIPER PRESENTS [2026 BOLD FEATURE]
South London selector Just Geo doesn’t just play music; he commands the culture. From the high-stakes pressure of shelling it down with Wiley in front of 20,000 people to a legendary back-to-back set with Idris Elba on the Ministry of Sound main stage, Geo’s career is a masterclass in versatility. Whether he’s in a warehouse in Kazakhstan or holding down the London airwaves, his instinct for moving a crowd is second to none.
Cutting his teeth on the gritty terrain of London’s pirate radio circuit, Geo quickly transitioned from a rising tastemaker to a powerhouse broadcaster, earning a prime-time slot on CSR FM and a coveted residency on Capital FM’s Capital Weekender. His sound is a vibrant collision of his roots, drawing a direct line between the foundations of UK Garage and Grime and the forward-thinking energy of modern UK club and electronic music.
Now, as he balances electrifying DJ sets with producing for the UK’s sharpest rising talent, Just Geo is expanding his empire. With a label and brand dedicated to nurturing the next wave of British artists and consistent support from BBC Radio 1Xtra and Capital Xtra, he is no longer just a staple of the scene—he is its future. With heavyweight editorial backing from Spotify and a momentum that feels unstoppable, it’s clear that for this South Londoner, this is only the beginning.
What five words define your sound?
eclectic, colourful, cinematic, unreasonable and arcane.
Tell me something unique about your creative process
I’ve been making music for a while now but imposter syndrome means I sometimes listen back to stuff I’ve produced and think ‘how did I do that? I’ll never make anything as good as that’ which means I’m always trying to do better. Then when I’ll finally get in the studio it feels so easy and I’m reminded, ‘oh yeah, I’m actually much better at this now’.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
Changes every day depending on my mood so it would have to be a playlist. ‘IN/ESSENCE’ from this EP is probably a good intro, followed by ‘Always Gonna Be’ with Flirta D, and ‘Tell Your Lies’, which features vocals from Carolina White.
What inspired you to make that song?
I started IN/ESSENCE in Ibiza, think it was the first time I’d been abroad since my son was born. I was there for IMS so I remember feeling pretty inspired by my surroundings and ready to get to work but at the same time very happy to get back and see the family. Couldn’t describe the feeling but tried to put into a tune and it was this!
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?
During lockdown and the pandemic I made an album called ‘End of Days but make it Vibes’. That was definitely a vulnerable moment, there are things expressed on that record by myself and the features that we know we just hadn’t really said out loud at the time. On ‘IN/HARMONY’ I had an idea to include some voice notes and snippets chronicling different moments from that first year of being a father but listening back to them it felt too intimate like something to save for the little man to listen to when he’s old enough!
