What five words define your sound?
Fresh, heart-warming, angelic, uplifting, vibe.
Tell me something unique about your creative process?
I always start with making melodies on chords, then I structure the song with what sounds right. Then I write lyrics relatable to the vibe or how I’m feeling at that very moment in time.
Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?
‘Soldier’!
What inspired you to make that song?
It was just right at the time because I was going through something. It was a prayer and a call out for change to pursue my dreams.
What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?
I talk about every situation no matter how big or small. Woke up at 5am crying over a boy and I wrote it about it.
What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?
Worst experience is not being able to hear myself… but the best experience is killing it anyways and seeing people’s reactions; I’m very grateful.
What is your favourite song to perform?
‘Soldier’!
Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?
Burna Boy – ‘Ye’ was definitely a big eye opener for me, I always wanted to make music but that song really just touched me in a different way that I started uploading videos of me singing online when that song came out!
What’s the meaning behind your name?
Highlyblessed is my name! It’s self-explanatory. I am blessed in different ways! Being musically talented is one of them.
If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?
Athletics, I competed nationally in 100m and 200m hurdles.
What’s success to you?
Making people happy when they hear music. Selling out shows; touring. People knowing me and connecting to my music.
What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?
I don’t know what this means so imma say God did!
