What five words define your sound?

Versatile, Experimental, Dope, Groovy, Soulful

Tell me something unique about your creative process.

I usually like to pace around when writing lyrics, I rarely sit down to write. And I record best when no one else is present.

Which song of yours would you like people to hear first?

‘More’

What inspired you to make that song?

Culture randomly played the beat out loud in the studio and I fell in love with it, it didn’t take long to come up with the lyrics, it was almost as though the beat picked the lyrics for me.

What’s the most vulnerable you’ve allowed yourself to be when writing/making music?

I’ve allowed myself to be very vulnerable in a couple of songs, for example, my song ‘Walked Alone’. Not all the time but sometimes I find myself writing from deep introspection.

What’s the best/worst experience you’ve had on stage?

The best experience I’ve had on stage is people singing my song word for word during a performance. The worst experience I’ve had on stage was a DJ cutting my performance short half way through my song while I was performing.

What is your favourite song to perform?

‘More’

Which artist/song/album made you want to make music?

Artist: Lil Wayne. Album: ‘The Eminem Show’. Song: ‘Cleaning Out My Closet’.

What’s the meaning behind your name?

Dumomi The Jig. My government name is Adedunmomi and the Jig stands for Jigsaw. I like to think of myself as a jigsaw because there are many pieces to the puzzle.

If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing instead?

Probably architecture or project management, or graphics design and video editing.

What’s success to you?

Happiness. Achievements.

What moment in your life/career forced you to change direction?

When I decided to leave a 9-5, I was working to chase music. It was difficult but God was involved.
