[FEATURE] MY FAVOURITE MIXTAPE: BJ THE CHICAGO KID

Grammy-nominated American singer and songwriter BJ The Chicago Kid follows up his newly released album ‘Gravy’ with this chat with VIPER. Read on to find out his favourite mixtape ever…

What’s your favourite mixtape ever?

Any Lil’ Wayne mixtape, it’s too hard to choose just one.

Why is it so significant to you?

Lil’ Wayne treated those mixtapes like an album. The quality and lyrical wordplay he gave on those mixtapes were better than a lot of albums that were coming out. That’s really what stamped him as best rapper alive.

Were there any artists or producers that you discovered through this tape?

Not really, I kind of already knew everybody. It was more so surprising to hear what he would do on songs and beats that we were familiar with but never heard him on.

Where exactly were you when you heard the mixtape for the first time?

I honestly don’t remember [Laughs].

Did it come into your life at a significant time?

Yes, anytime good music comes into my life, that I have to play over and over again, it makes those times and moments memorable because the soundtrack always helps the movie.

Describe the mixtape in three words?

Fucking Incredible I tell ya! That’s five but you get it! [Laughs]

What song is your personal favourite?

‘Pussy Money Weed’

If you could put a price on this mixtape, how much would you pay?

I’d definitely pay a dub for that for sure!

Did you have a physical copy?

Not a real physical copy

No? Which is your favourite that you have a physical copy of?

I honestly don’t have a lot of physical copies of mixtapes.
