This June, Dr. Martens collaborates with NTS to celebrate individuality in all its forms. A bond formed through music. A desire to do things differently. Our new release with Hackney-based online radio station and media platform NTS is a symbol of self-expression.
Driven by their mantra ‘Don’t Assume’ – which was borrowed from a jazz LP released in the 80s – NTS have made a name for themselves since their launch in 2011 as a hub for music that stands apart from the mainstream. The goal? Total music freedom. A space where everyone can show up as they are, with zero rules.
With over 6 decades of experience at the feet of subcultures, taking our wearers through protests, festivals and everyday rebellion, we’ve written pages in the alternative history books. This legacy to non-conformity is mirrored by NTS in their anti-ordinary aesthetic that celebrates creativity, fluidity and authenticity.
Joined by a mutual desire to challenge limits and expectations, the DM’s x NTS collaboration sees our cult classic 1461 Smooth Leather Oxford shoe undergo a bold refresh. By printing their legendary mantra on the shoe, we’ve created a standout silhouette that emboldens its wearers. Fights back against stereotypes. And is the ultimate badge of personal empowerment.
