Manchester’s own DJ Win, also known as Aitch’s DJ, stops by to tell VIPER about his favourite mixtape ever – but plot twist, it’s an album…

What’s your favourite mixtape ever?

I don’t really have a favourite mixtape, I have a favourite album and that would be Aitch – ‘Close To Home’

Why is it so significant to you?

This album is significant to me because I have been on Aitch’s musical journey from the start and seeing everything we worked towards in a physical form is very surreal.

Were there any artists or producers that you discovered through this tape?

Hmm, I would say I discovered the artist New Machine on the track ‘Sunshine’.

Where exactly were you when you heard the mixtape for the first time?

I was in Aitch’s car on our way back from rehearsal when I first heard the first couple of tracks from the album.

Did it come into your life at a significant time?

I would like to say yeah as it came after the COVID pandemic, and it was kind of a relief to see things going back to normal.

How did the mixtape cover make you feel?

The album made me feel proud, proud to be apart such a hard working team and proud to be a part of his journey.

Describe the mixtape in three words?

Personal, Growth, Insightful.

What song is your personal favourite?

My personal favourite from the album, would have to be ‘My G’ sonically and the reason behind the song.

If you could put a price on this mixtape, how much would you pay?

Did you have a physical copy?
