[FEATURE] MY FAVOURITE MIXTAPE: QUEEN MILLZ

Leicester’s rising star, Queen Millz, tells VIPER why this Trippie Redd classic had an impact on her…

What’s your favourite mixtape ever?

Trippie Redd – ‘A Love Letter To You 4’

Why is it so significant to you?

It was at a time in my life where I idolised Trippie. I was going through a break up and I wanted to be strong like him and be able to include how I feel in my lyrics.

Were there any artists or producers that you discovered through this tape?

Chris King is one of Trippie’s goons. They hang around on Instagram a lot and as far as I’m aware, they make a lot of music together.

Where exactly were you when you heard the mixtape for the first time?

In the bath. I like to play projects whilst I’m relaxing and go on my own journey.

Did it come into your life at a significant time?

Yes definitely, like I said, I’d just gone through a break up and then Trippie brought out the project. I felt like every word related to me.

How did the mixtape cover make you feel?

The cover art consists of Trippie’s face, done up with make up, he has beads on his face to resemble tears. It made me feel welcome to join his journey.

Describe the mixtape in three words?

Wholesome, victorious, relatable.

What song is your personal favourite?

Even though I literally love the whole project and I wish I could name way more than one, I like ‘The Grinch’ because it’s really hard hitting and the music video is realllly creative and cool.

If you could put a price on this mixtape, how much would you pay?

Realistically I can stream for free but I would probably pay at least £10 for this mixtape.

Did you have a physical copy?

No, I wish. He did limited edition vinyls that I wish I could have copped in time.

No? Which is your favourite that you have a physical copy of?

Unfortunately because I grew up in an era where the world went digital, I don’t actually own ANY physical mixtapes. My parents own quite a few but I would have only listened as a small child and can’t really say anything other than my dad’s reggae mixes had an influence on me.
