[STYLE] FOOTPATROL X PUMA SUEDE

To round our their final footwear collaboration of 2020, Footpatrol has partnered up with PUMA to bring you their take on the classic silhouette that is the Suede.

Steeped in history, the PUMA Suede first made its way onto the streets way back in 1968, breaking onto the scene playing a huge part within the history of streetwear and street culture. The Suede became a defining sneaker for PUMA, representing its heritage within both sport and style however, It was within the world of hip hop that the PUMA Suede really began to take charge. Breaking away from the traditional leather or canvas construction and instead employing a rich suede upper making it a must have on the foot look.

Footpatrol explain,Throughout the decades, Soho has always been a hub for London’s music scene. Having witnessed, and been a part of the growth of street culture in the UK, we wanted to pay tribute and bring focus to this time where the PUMA Suede was a popular footwear choice in the scene.”

“With our London store located within the heart of Soho, we’ve always found ourselves surrounded by some of the most iconic record stores and venues the UK has to offer. The area is constantly thriving off the culture that every genre of music brings, allowing all to be a part of, including ourselves.”

“We wanted to be allies and contribute to keeping the arts alive by launching our music initiative titled Frequent Players. Using this platform, we want to build a deeper connection with our consumers through all realms in the world of music, exploring all ranges of personalities and genres whilst further building on that deep connection between music and street culture.”

“A true classic is something that doesn’t need to be over thought, something that is timeless in its design and only gets better with age. For our take on the Suede, we wanted to keep the blueprint original whilst adding subtle differences that make it unique. Reimagining the upper, we opted for a premium long-nap rich black suede, and a white coloured formstripe in matching material on the lateral panel.”

“The medial side of the shoe is presented with a tonal formstripe and tonal stitch details. The ‘Made in Italy’ callout is finished in metallic gold features on a leather tab stitched on the tongue lining. Throughout the shoe, we added white stitch details on the lacestay (medial side), medial formstripe, heel and top of the tongue.”

“Instead of designing a custom woven tongue label, we opted in re-branding the classic PUMA tongue label by replacing the PUMA cat graphic with our Gasmask logo. Further Footpatrol branding can be seen on the heel and on the premium perforated leather footbed.”

“Finishing off the limited edition Suede of just 200 pairs worldwide, we wanted to highlight this on the shoe by individually numbering each pair in metallic gold Foil stamped on the outer heel. Each pair is housed in a custom branded shoe box and shoe paper, and comes supplied with a pair of fat, bright white shoe laces because if we’re being honest, no Suede would be complete without a chunky lace.”

Dropping in Footpatrol this Saturday 21st November.
